The Voice of Russia on August 27, 2012 released the following:
“Hactivist group Anonymous through Twitter accounts claims to have taken down the website of Interpol.
The site was unavailable from 9:18 pm GMT on Sunday but resumed functioning soon after.
The hackers also claim to have taken down the website of the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA), a UK police unit.
Hackers proclaim that by doing this they are urging to free WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
Sweden wants Assange to be extradited from the UK due to accusations of rape. Julian Assange has received political asylum in Ecuador and is currently staying at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London.
